My Tree Hugger Speech

Posted on Nov 6th, 2008 by Bre : paz en el mundo Bre

I love stepping out into the forest and smelling the earth mixed with pine. I love the majestic cedar trees and the peaks of the mountains silhouetted against the gray-blue sky. I love and respect the earth and try to help others do the same. Nature is there to enjoy, that's why I spend time hiking, kayaking, and climbing with my family in places many haven't taken the time to see. It is a place where we can again connect with who we are meant to be and escape from who we have been trained to be. I love the ocean and listening to the waves crashing one after another on the shore. I like the feeling of being free while standing on the shore staring at the water stretching out and meeting the great horizon. I love exploring tide pools-natures own aquarium. I love the healing you can receive from just being in the forest listening, smelling, and feeling. Smell the always wet earth mixing with the smell of the damp tree bark? Hear the birds calling each other and the sound of the distant waterfall? I care about preserving nature, because without it, who are we? I care about using products that are good for the earth; that came from her and can return to her without damage. I care about preserving our forests and oceans and keeping lakes and rivers clean and free. That's what I love, just nature. Because really, without the earth who are we?

Today is an amazing day because I woke up and heard the rain on my roof which is my most favorite sound in the world.

Just be still...

Just be a listener. Sometimes people don't want advice or consolation. It's best to just offer a shoulder to cry on and just listen to them. When/if they want to talk, they will and you will probably be the first one they come to.

It pays to keep quiet!

I have discovered that sometimes it is better to hold your thoughts than to say something might hurt someone, even though it may be true. Controlling your temper is also better than getting worked up and helps keep relationships strong.
